Private Scholarships

General Private Scholarships at UA Little Rock are available for students who meet the criteria.

  • If you currently have a UA Little Rock private scholarship, it may be renewable, but you will need to reapply every year.
  • Private scholarship awards may impact other sources of financial aid administered through UA Little Rock.
  • All scholarship recipients are required to write a personal letter of thanks to the donor before scholarship funds are posted.
  • Private scholarship funds are awarded based on the availability of funds.
  • For consideration, you must fill out an application in Trojan SMART.

General Private Scholarship Opportunities & Criteria

Access Control Devices, Inc., Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time freshmen, transfer, or continuing undergraduate students enrolled in at least 3 hours per semester at the Benton Campus. Preference is given to students living in Saline County, Arkansas. Awarded to students with financial need.

Albert D. and Marcuse S. Cohn Scholarship
Awarded to students in good standing who can demonstrate financial need and have a 2.0 GPA or above.

Andrew Crittenden Mitchell Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time student. Academic accomplishment and financial need will be strongly considered.

Asa Jean Woolfolk Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time students who are majoring in Mathematics or Finance (with an emphasis in Insurance). Applicants must demonstrate high academic achievement. Financial need will be considered.

Bailey Scholars Scholarship
Awarded to a full or part-time entering freshman, transfer, or continuing student.  Academic accomplishment and financial need will be strongly considered.

Baxley-Penfield-Moudy Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time freshmen, transfer, or continuing undergraduate students enrolled in at least 3 hours per semester at the Benton Campus. Preference is given to students living in Saline County, Arkansas. Awarded to students with financial need.

Ben Hardy, Jr. Kappa Sigma Excellence Award
Awarded to a full or part-time student and member in good standing of the Theta Eta Chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Demonstrated service to the fraternity and to UA Little Rock will be strongly considered.

Benton Center Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time freshmen, transfer, or continuing undergraduate students enrolled in at least 3 hours per semester at the Benton Campus. Preference is given to students living in Saline County, Arkansas. Awarded to students with financial need.

Bernard Osher Foundation Scholarship Fund
Awarded to non-traditional students pursuing their first undergraduate degree. Students must have a five-year gap in their education history. Academic accomplishment and financial need will be strongly considered.

Bernice and Curtis Harris Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree. Applicants must exhibit financial need; academic standing will be a secondary consideration.

Big Red Stores/Family Market Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time entering freshman, transfer, or continuing student that is an employee or immediate family member (spouse or child) of an employee at Big Red Stores/Family Market.  Awarded to a student with financial need.

Boaz Family Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree. Applicants must have a grade point average no lower than 2.0 and no higher than 3.20. Preference will be given to students who exhibit extreme financial need.

C. Robert Sarver Memorial Fund
Awarded to undergraduate students who are enrolled full-time or part-time in any degree program. Special consideration will be given to the academic potential of applicants, as well as their financial need and public service activities. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA overall and a 3.0 GPA in his or her major while on this scholarship.

Charles and Nadine Baum Scholarship
Awarded to part-time undergraduate or graduate students majoring in any college. Part-time is defined as less than 12 credit hours for undergraduates and less than 9 credit hours for graduates. To receive this scholarship, undergraduate and law students must enroll in 3 to 11 hours for the term of the award; graduate students must enroll in 3 to 8 hours.

Della Casan Michael Mitchell Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time student who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need.

Denman Brothers Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree. Applicants must be a veteran of the United States Armed Forces. Preference will be given to Army and/or combat veterans.

Dick Neal Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to students with a 3.0 GPA who can demonstrate financial need.

Dr. John A. Larson, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time students.  Financial need will be considered.

Dr. Robert B. Clarke Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time student who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need.

Emily and Frank Parke Scholarship
Awarded to students who have maintained a high GPA for more than four semesters. Financial need is also considered.

Fay S. Pfeifer Endowed Scholarship
To be awarded to a UA Little Rock student.

General Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate or graduate students enrolled full-time or part-time. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA while on this scholarship.

Houshang and Farrah Assadi Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time first-generation student. Preference will be given to sophomore, junior or senior-level students with a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA. Preference will be given to a student in the TRIO program and participating in Student Support Services and McNair Scholars Program. Financial need will be strongly considered, but TRIO participation shall take precedence.

Hugh F. Oates Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time student. This scholarship is open to all majors.

Insurance Women of Little Rock Scholarship
Awarded to a junior who has proven leadership abilities and is enrolled in 12 or more undergraduate hours.

James H. Fribourgh Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate students with priority given to part-time, particularly non-traditional students. Consideration will be given to the student’s potential rather than their past academic history.

James Taylor Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a graduate or undergraduate student pursuing a degree in the business, law, math, science, medical, or health fields. Applicants must have financial need and a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Jerry and Terry Richard Endowed Award
Awarded to full-time or part-time students. Academic accomplishment and financial need will be considered.

Jewel Minnis Freshman Scholarship
Awarded to an outstanding first-time entering freshman.

Joel E. Anderson University District Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time student residing in the University District for a minimum of 3 years. The scholarship shall be available to undergraduate students with a minimum 2.5 GPA and graduate level students with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Financial need will be strongly considered.

Joyce Wroten Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students
Awarded to non-traditional students pursuing their first undergraduate degree. Financial need will be considered.

Karen Russ Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to full or part-time undergraduate or graduate student. The recipient shall have submitted to the committee the results of a research project completed during the same academic year which is supported by the use of government data.

Katherine and Ryan Palludan Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to full or part-time student. Preference is given to a student in the state of Arkansas who has exhibited strong community service and leadership and is working toward a degree in one of the following majors: biology, nursing, geology, or anthropology.  Academic accomplishment and financial need will be strongly considered.

Keemo Richardson Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to graduates of Little Rock Central High School who are enrolled full- or part-time in any undergraduate degree program. Special consideration will be given to the academic potential of applicants, as well as their financial need and public service activities. Preference will also be given to qualified applicants who were Central High School student-athletes. The recipient(s) must maintain a 2.5 overall GPA and a 3.0 GPA in his or her major while on this scholarship.

L.A. Horn Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior with exceptional financial need and the potential for completing his or her academic studies. Special consideration will be given to single parents. The recipient must maintain a 2.0 GPA while on this scholarship.

Larson Harman Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time student. Academic achievement and financial need will be considered.

Ledbetter Non-Traditional Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time undergraduate students with an intended or declared major who are seeking a first baccalaureate degree. Applicants must be 25 years of age or older. Academic accomplishment and financial need will be considered.

Lester E. Hosto Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time students who graduated from Joe T. Robinson High School in Little Rock. Preference will be given to entering freshmen.

Little Rock Rising Scholarship Fund
Awarded to a full-time student who graduated from Central High School, Hall High School, JA Fair High School, McClellan High School, or Parkview High School in the Little Rock School District. The recipient must have a cumulative GPA between 2.6 and 3.0 and an ACT score of 19-21, and demonstrate need based on Federal Financial Aid criteria.

Lou Ellen Gray Scholarship

Awarded to full-time or part-time students with a 2.50 minimum GPA. Preference will be given to students from Sevier County, Arkansas with secondary preference to students from southwest Arkansas. Financial need will be strongly considered.

Madeline S. Bailey and H.A. Ted Bailey, Sr. Memorial Scholarship
Applicants must be studying at the undergraduate level with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and have attended an accredited high school within the following geographic areas: Arkansas, the boot heel of southeast Missouri, and western Tennessee (defined as the area along Highway 51 beginning at Memphis to Union City and the Reelfoot Lake area).

Marian Williams Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time student who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need.

Mary Frances Frederick Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time student who has financial need.

National Dunbar Alumni Association Scholarship
Awarded to African American students who have graduated from Little Rock public high schools.  Students must have a 2.5 GPA and show evidence of financial need.

Neyland Hester Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time student. Academic accomplishment and financial need will be considered equally in the selection process.

Patricia Guardado Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time students. Academic accomplishment and financial need will be considered.

Patricia and John S. Bailey Family Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time students. Academic accomplishment and financial need will be considered. Student must be working toward completing a four-year degree. This scholarship is renewable; recipients must reapply annually.

Pear Tree Wealth Management Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time freshmen, transfer, or continuing undergraduate students enrolled in at least 3 hours per semester at the Benton Campus. Preference is given to students living in Saline County, Arkansas. Awarded to students with financial need.

Pepsi Americas Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time students.  Academic accomplishment and financial need will be considered.

Ragsdale-Johnson Scholarship
Awarded to students from Arkansas who demonstrate academic excellence or economic need and are pursuing an education in English, history, languages, engineering, mathematics, or science at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock or the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Preference will be given to non-traditional students, preferably 30 years of age or older. If no such qualified person exists, the scholarship may be awarded to another qualified person.

Rockefeller Scholarship Fund
Awarded to a student with high scholarship and financial need, and personal integrity.

Roller Funeral Homes Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time students who demonstrate academic accomplishment and financial need.

Rudolph S. and Margaretta B. Graham Scholarship Fund
Awarded to full-time or part-time undergraduates who are residents of Arkansas. Applicants must be a non-traditional student with a preference given to single parents. The primary intent of this scholarship is to benefit hardworking average students who would otherwise not normally receive scholarship assistance because of having non-competitive grade point averages. The award is available to entering freshmen and is renewable for four years if the student continues to meet the criteria.

Salene and Maxwell Lyons Family Scholarship
Awarded to a junior or senior with preference being given to those students majoring in an academic area related to the “helping professions.”

Stovall Family Annual Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student. Academic accomplishment and financial need will be considered.  Student must have at least a 2.0 GPA.  For promising students who need financial assistance in order to complete their degree and graduate from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Truman L. Scott Scholarship
Awarded to “students wanting an education but without funds to carry on,” but not to exceed $1,000.

UA Little Rock Foundation Fund Board Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time or part-time incoming freshman student. Applicants must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5 and an ACT score of 22 or above. Academic accomplishment will be strongly considered. This scholarship is open to all majors and is renewable for the student’s sophomore year.

Welty-Barr Submarine Service Scholarship
Awarded to full-time or part-time students. The recipient shall be a U.S. Navy veteran with preference given to a recipient who was/is qualified to serve on submarines, or the child, grandchild or spouse of such a veteran. Preference will also be given to students in their sophomore or later years and who are majoring in Professional Technical Writing. Academic accomplishment, including maintaining a 3.00 GPA, and financial need will be considered.
