Fall 2024 50% off Freshman Tuition & Fees FAQs

What is this award?

In this first-of-its-kind initiative, first-time freshmen will receive up to 50% off tuition and fees for not only their freshman year for the 2024-25 academic year but their 2025-26 sophomore year as well.

How do I know if I am eligible?

Incoming freshmen are eligible as long as they are fully admitted, have less than 12 hours of college credit, and enroll in 12 or more hours for the fall 2024 semester.

How do I apply for this award?

The great news is you don’t have to. By completing all of your admission requirements and enrolling in 12 or more hours, you’ll be automatically awarded.

How do I know if I’ve received the award?

Keep an eye on your UA Little Rock email address for award notifications.

Can I combine this with my other institutional awards?

The answer is “possibly.” If you have institutional scholarships that are less than $5,000 for the year, then we’ll make up the difference to get you up to $5,000. However, if you do have institutional scholarships for $5,000 or more, you will not be awarded.

Can this award be used on my non-resident tuition charges?

This award can only be applied to your in-state tuition charges.

Is this scholarship renewable?

Your award may be renewable for the spring 2025 semester and the 2025-26 academic year as long as you maintain a minimum of a 2.25 UA Little Rock cumulative GPA and successfully complete 24 hours your freshman year. It is not renewable for more than four semesters or past spring 2025.

If I’m in online classes, can I receive this award too?

Absolutely! Online campus students are included as well.

How much am I eligible for?

The award is $5,000 per year, which is split into $2,500 per semester. If you have other institutional scholarships that are tuition and fee specific then this award will be reduced by that amount.

For example, if you’ve been awarded a $2,000 institutional scholarship, you will receive $3,000 from this award in order to get the maximum award we have to offer!

Am I required to submit a FAFSA?

While we encourage all students to complete a FAFSA, it is not a requirement to receive this scholarship.

Are international students able to receive this award?

Yes, international students may receive this award as long as they are meeting the enrollment and admission requirements. However, it will be 50% of in-state tuition charges and does not count towards non-resident tuition charges.
