Smoking on UALR campuses is regulated under the authority of Act 462 of the 76th General Assembly of the State of Arkansas, 1987. In accordance with the statute and recognizing the ill effects of tobacco on its smoking and non-smoking faculty, staff, students and visitors, the following policy has been adopted.
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is a smoke-free campus. This policy originated in recommendations from the Student Government Association and the University Assembly. This policy applies to all locations of the university, including the main campus, the William H. Bowen School of Law, and the UALR Benton Center.All individuals are expected to comply with this policy. Persons who fail to comply are subject to disciplinary actions. (Chancellor’s Office, 8/16/09)
All individuals are responsible for enforcement of this policy. If an individual cannot resolve a problem encountered while attempting to maintain the smoke-free environment, the next person in the chain of authority will be asked to help resolve the problem.
Standard progressive disciplinary procedures shall be followed for students, staff, and faculty who fail to abide by this policy.
