Nickolai Kosmatov

International Research Reputation

Research involvement is important in student retention and success, and Dr. Nickolai Kosmatov’s record of publication with students is extensive. His research is recognized as outstanding, and his international reputation is enhanced by his work reviewing papers, editing journals, organizing scientific meetings, and presenting at national and international meetings.

Dr. Martin Boehner of Missouri University of Science and Technology cites Dr. Kosmatov as an “internationally well-known expert in differential, difference, and dynamic systems.” His work includes research on impulsive equations, equations on time scales, problems on unbounded domains, and problems resonance. He employs a variety of sophisticated techniques – not just relying on the same approach every time. He has published more than 25 papers since being promoted to associate professor at UA Little Rock.

Dr. Kosmatov is an associate editor of Advances in Differential Equations and Control Processes, and he served as guest editor for Nonlinear Analysis. He also reviews papers for Zentralbladtt Publishing and Mathematical Reviews. A colleague described Dr. Kosmatov as “one of the most reliable referees I ever encountered, providing first-class reports in a very timely manner.” He has also been recognized for his willingness to mentor graduate students as they take their first steps into mathematical research.

He received a Ph.D. from Auburn University and a B.S. degree from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
