Of the 674 labs submitted to screen for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea, 45 returned as positive. These individuals were treated and were provided education on the risks of unprotected sex.

Of the 331 HIV screening tests only 2 were HIV positive. Health Services staff continues to coordinate with the HIV case manager at the Arkansas Department of Health to ensure these students are connected to appropriate health and wellness care.

No cases of Syphilis were detected.

 

The staff of Health Promotion, Programs and Education continue to provide prevention information, education, and outreach programs on a wide variety of health-related and wellness topics.

1.  Smoking Cessation:  In-person consults and on-line classes were offered.

  • 43 individuals participated in the on-line class and 19 received individual assistance

2.  Trojan Trailblazers:

  • 202 students and employees participated in the weekly walks

3.  Weight and Wellness: This 12-week class was offered in both the Fall and Spring semesters. photos of participants in the ualr weight and wellness classThese two groups were the largest since the inception of the program. A Fitbit was awarded to the two participants who lost the most weight or inches.

  • 40 individuals attended

4.  Nutrition/Exercise:

  • 30 individuals received one-on-one nutrition and exercise counseling
  •  72 students attended a presentation entitled “Health, Wellness, Nutrition, Stress Management, & Fitness”
