HIPAA Compliance Updates
Charlotte Beck, Assistant Director and HIPAA Compliance Officer, reviewed Health Services HIPAA policies and procedures for compliance. Several updates were immediately made and a plan was developed to revise the remainder, and add new guidelines as required, by the end of fiscal year 2015-2016. Designated Clinic for Workers’ Compensation Claims
On July 1, 2014, Health Services became the designated clinic for workers’ compensation claims at UALR. Human Resources staff provided training on the new procedures. The third-party billing vendor worked with staff on completing claim forms and offered training on processing and submitting invoices for payment.
Third Party Billing – Credentialing
Third party billing for employee health visits (UMR covered only) continues to generate revenue. Complete Provider Resources (CPR) administers the billing process for the Office of Health Services. AIDS Healthcare Foundation & Condom Nation Awards Free Condoms
Charlotte Beck, Assistant Director, submitted a request to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and Condom Nation to partner with them in their efforts to raise awareness about HIV and other STI prevention. These two organizations support over 400 entities nationwide by providing free condoms. Health Services was chosen as a partner in this effort. The American Cancer Society marks the Great American Smokeout on the third Thursday of November each year. Five UALR students attended 9 hours of training during the spring semester and became certified as UALR Peer Educators.
