History Day

We host the Arkansas District 7 History Day competition annually for students in Pulaski (south of the Arkansas River), Saline, Garland, Hot Spring, Grant, and Jefferson counties.  Contact Kristin Mann, kdmann@ualr.edu, for information about sending students to the competition.

The 2020 History Day competition, Breaking Barriers in History, took place Saturday, March 7, 2020. The 2021 History Day competition, Communication in History, will take place on March 6, 2021.

Information for Middle School and Secondary Educators

Each school may send a maximum of 5 entries in each category.

Junior Division (grades 6-8)

Includes individual historical papers, websites, documentaries, exhibits, and performances; junior division group websites documentaries, exhibits, and performances.

Senior Division (grades 9-12)

Includes individual historical papers, websites, documentaries, exhibits, and performances; senior division group websites documentaries, exhibits, and performances

The top three projects in each category advance to the Arkansas State History Day competition at the University of Central Arkansas.  For more information on the competition, or for rules and resources, go to www.nhd.org.
