Publish for Free? New Open Access Deal Makes It Possible.
A read and publish agreement for open access has been reached between four University of Arkansas institutions and Elsevier ScienceDirect. The four year agreement includes waiving the open access fee for university researchers to publish in any one of more than 1,800 Elsevier journals.
Current students, faculty, and staff at UA Little Rock, as well as those at UA Fayetteville, UA Fort Smith, UA Monticello, or UAMS are eligible for the program when they are the primary corresponding author of an accepted article. The agreement enables authors to make their publications open access with a Creative Commons license, increasing the accessibility of their research to readers throughout the world.
With this agreement, Elsevier becomes the fifth major publisher where the library has arranged for university authors to publish their work without open access author fees. Other read and publishing agreements are in effect with the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), American Chemical Society (ACS), Cambridge University Press and Springer Nature.
