Unearth the Stories Beneath Our Campus

Come visit the exhibit on the first floor of the UA Little Rock Library and discover the history buried right under your feet.

“The UA Little Rock Garden Site (3PU1132) Archaeological Project” exhibit showcases 35 artifacts uncovered during a campus dig that began in Fall 2023. From broken bricks and glass to a child’s forgotten metal jack, each item offers a glimpse into everyday life here in the early 1900s—when this land held homes and the old Safeway Ice Cream Plant.

Interns Paige Blair and Rebecca Hardcastle helped bring this project to life under the guidance of Dr. Maureece Levin. Stop by, look closely, and imagine the lives behind the objects. The past isn’t far—it’s just beneath the surface.
