Library Enters into MDPI Agreement

The Ottenheimer Library has entered into an agreement for the university to join MDPI’s
Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP), making it easier and more affordable for our
scholars to publish open access.

A leader in scholarly, open access publishing, MDPI offers a multidisciplinary collection
of 478 open access journals, including 469 peer-reviewed journals and 9 conference
journals.

As part of this agreement:

  •  UA Little Rock researchers who publish as contributing authors in an MDPI
publication automatically receive a 10% discount on standard article processing
    charges (APCs)
  • UA Little Rock researchers who publish as corresponding authors in an MDPI
publication can receive a 15% discount on standard APCs with billing through the
    library.

In addition to the MDPI discount program, the university also supports open access
publishing through the grants of up to $2,000 via the Open Access Publishing Support
Fund
and APC waivers via five read and publish agreements with the Association of
Computing Machinery, the American Chemical Society, Cambridge University Press,
Elsevier ScienceDirect and Springer Nature.
