Trojans announce 2018-19 Cross Country Schedule
The Little Rock men’s and women’s cross country teams have released their 2018 regular-season schedule.
The schedule includes four regular-season meets in addition to the Sun Belt Conference Championships. Three of the regular-season meets will occur in Arkansas while the fourth will happen in Tennessee.
Like the 2017 season, the Trojans will begin the season at the Memphis Twilight Classic on Sept. 1 in Memphis, Tennessee. The action will get underway at 9 p.m. as the men battle a four-mile course while the women take on a 5K.
The following Saturday on Sept. 8, Little Rock will make the short trip up to Conway for the UCA XC Challenge. Last year, Isaac Lalang won the men’s portion of the meet while Hannah Manning was the Trojans’ top finisher for the women as she placed eighth. Times for the meet have yet to be announced.
After a two-week break, Little Rock will head to Fayetteville for the 30th Annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on Sept. 22. The men’s 8K will get underway at 9:30 a.m., and the women’s 5K will start at 10:20 a.m.
With three weeks to prepare, the Trojans will finish the regular season by hosting the Little Rock Invitational on Oct. 13 at the Rebsamen Park Golf Course in Little Rock. The men’s 8K will begin at 10 a.m. while the women’s 5K will start at 10:45 a.m. Shanieke Watson will look to defend her crown as she won the women’s event last season.
After concluding regular-season action at home, Little Rock will head to Mobile, Alabama, for the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Oct. 27.
The NCAA South Central Regionals will be hosted by Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, on Nov. 9, and the NCAA National Championships will take place on Nov. 17 in Madison, Wisconsin.
