Fifty-four percent of Arkansas students will graduate with an average debt of $21,000, according to the latest figures available through the California-based Institute for College Access and Success (TICAS).

Members of the UALR Alumni Board of Directors will award a record 22 scholarships next spring, thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends who have made tax-deductible gifts to the university.

Students interested in applying for UALR’s top honors program, the Donaghey Scholars Program, are invited to Sampler Day from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Legends Room of the Jack Stephens Center. The program includes a scholarship package totaling between $60,000 and $80,000 as well as a chance to study abroad.

Five UALR students will be among those honored Friday, Oct. 26, at the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) annual Scholarship Banquet.

Returning to school can be difficult, but thanks to the Bernard Osher Foundation, UALR students now have a better chance at completing their degrees.

The UALR Theatre and Dance Department will hold dance scholarship interviews and dance technique placement auditions for the 2012-2013 academic year from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at the Center for the Performing Arts. All students must sign up for and schedule auditions and interviews before Feb. 3.
