Special Notice:

Because of the COVID-19 situation, the University Writing Center will be closed on campus until further notice.

Our Online Writing Lab (OWL) remains open, visit https://ualr.edu/writingcenter/home/owl/ for more information.

The last day the Online Writing Lab will be accepting submissions for the Spring 2020 semester is Friday May 1, 2020 at 3:00pm. All submissions must be uploaded by that time in order to get feedback by the last day of classes.

The University Writing Center (UWC) was developed to help clients with their writing at any stage of the writing process. We can provide quality feedback about your writing, problem-solving strategies for your writing, and assistance with academic technology.

We offer one-on-one face-to-face writing consultations. Writing consultations are provided by appointment and on a walk-in basis.

When you attend a writing consultation, a staff member will look over your project and provide comments and suggestions as needed to improve its content, development, and organization.  Staff can also help you identify patterns of error in your grammar, spelling, and punctuation so you can learn how to correct these errors on your own. Staff will not proofread your paper for you, but will instead teach you techniques for how to do this for yourself.

We also offer online writing feedback through our Online Writing Lab (OWL) at https://ualr.edu/writingcenter/home/owl/

While the UWC is primarily oriented to help current students at the university, non-students can also utilize UWC services. Please email the director, Dr. Earnest L. Cox (elcox@ualr.edu) for more information.

Please come visit us. The UWC is located in the Student Union B (SUB) Room 116. For more information about the services we provide and to schedule a writing consultation, please call our office at (501) 569-8343.
