Florian Larousse, classical guitarist, performs at 7:30 p.m. Monday, February 28, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the UALR Fine Arts Building as part of the Artspree concert series.
Tickets are $20 for general admission, $10 for UALR faculty and staff, free for UALR students, and $10 for non-UALR students.
The program includes John Dowland’s Fantasia, Lachrimae Pavan, and Fancy; J.S. Bach’s Lute Suite in E minor, BWV 996; Fernando Sor’s Variations on a Theme by Mozart, Op. 9; Nuccio D’Angelo’s Due Canzoni Lidie; and Giulio Regondi’s Introduction and Caprice, Op. 23.
Larousse has earned prizes in a number of international competitions in various countries including France, Germany, Hungary, Portugal, Spain, and the United States. His performance at the Jose Tomás Competition in Spain earned him first prize and the Audience Choice Award in addition to resulting in a tour of 10 Spanish cities and a recording contract.
In 2009 he won the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition, resulting in a 9-month concert tour in the United States, including a performance at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in New York, as well as a number of concerts in Brazil, Canada, China, and Mexico.
