Visiting Ceramics Artist Workshop Set for March 7-8

UALR’s Department of Art and the UALR Clay Guild will welcome Ron Meyers as a visiting artist Monday and Tuesday, March 7 and 8.

Meyers will hold workshops from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Monday, March 7. On Tuesday,  March 8, the workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. All workshops will be held in the Fine Arts Building, Room 256.

Meyers will also present an artist lecture at 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, in the Fine Arts Building, Room 157.

Meyers has worked in clay for over 30 years. He is a professor emeritus at the University of Georgia.

Regarding his functional pottery pieces, Meyers said, “I have always tried to make work that is casually made and gestural – letting the clay qualities come through in the finished piece.

Admission to all events is free and open to the public.
