For the second consecutive year, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock soccer team has earned its highest-ever seed in the Sun Belt Tournament.

This year, Little Rock (11-6-1, 6-3-1 Sun Belt Conference) will be the No. 3 seed in the tournament thanks to a 2-0 victory over Troy University (7-9-3, 3-5-2) on Sunday at the Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex.

Just last season, Little Rock earned the league’s No. 5 seed, then the best ever in team history. This season, Little Rock will take on the league’s No. 6 seed on Nov. 4 in Foley, Alabama, in the tournament’s opening round.

With the win Sunday, Little Rock also tied the program record for victories in a season with 11, equaling the mark set by the 2014 team. Little Rock also set a new program mark for conference wins in a season with six.

Doro Greulich scored Little Rock’s first goal in the 36th minute, blasting the ball from distance into the right side of the net. Mikayla Uyokpeyi got her first goal of the season in the 50th minute, launching the ball into the right side of the net from the top of the box as Fali Garuba got her a pass.

Sara Small earned the win in goal, improving her record on the year to 9-5-1. She did not have to make a save in the win, though fellow senior Hali Long stopped a ball from going into the net late in the game. Senior Sara Cavanagh played the final eight minutes of the game as Little Rock allowed seniors to get into the contest for their final career home game.
