‘SpectacUALR’ to benefit Trojan Athletics

The fifth annual “SpectacUALR” to benefit Trojan Athletics will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Jack Stephens Center on the University of Arkansas at Little Rock campus.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with a live auction beginning at 8 p.m. Cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Each year, the UALR Department of Athletics honors a loyal supporter and patron of Trojan Athletics. This year’s honoree is Dr. John Wilson.

Trojan Head Red

Dr. Wilson worked for 38 years at OrthoArkansas until his retirement in 2007. He returned to treating patients two years ago at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He is the 1995 recipient of the UALR Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus Award for Excellence.

Wilson also received the 2009 Asklepion Award from the Arkansas Medical Society. The award is given to a physician who embodies the values of the medical profession through leadership, service, excellence, integrity and ethical behavior, and enriches patients, colleagues and the community through dedicated medical practice.

The UALR Trojan Athletic Foundation hosts SpectacUALR each year to raise awareness and support for UALR Athletics and student-athletes.

All proceeds from the event will directly impact UALR’s current student-athletes and coaches. The event is sponsored by Windstream.

Last year’s event grossed more than $200,000 and was the largest fundraiser in UALR history.

Tickets are available online and can be purchased at UALR Trojan Athletics. Tickets are $75, of which $50 is tax deductible.
