Volunteers Needed for Pro Bono Event

In celebration of National Pro Bono Week, Arkansas Legal Services is hosting an event focusing on first responders Thursday, Oct. 25 at the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law.

The host organization is currently seeking volunteers for the Responders First Pro Bono event to assist firefighters, police officers and emergency healthcare workers with basic legal aid. Volunteers for the free service event should be attorneys, legal assistants, notaries public or law students who are interested in preparing simple wills, advance directives and powers of attorney for healthcare and financial matters.

Those who volunteer will be sponsored by the Volunteer Organization for Center for Arkansas Legal Services, who will provide participants with malpractice coverage for the event.

The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. with a free one-hour CLE-accredited training session and is provided by attorneys from such organizations as the Pulaski County Bar Association and Arkansas Bar Association.

For more information or to sign up to volunteer, visit arlegalservices.org/probonoevent or contact Donna Ramsey at 501.376.3423. Students who want to volunteer should contact Terry Harrison in the Legal Clinic. Those interested in volunteering are urged to sign up by Oct. 22.
