Reception to Honor Dean Casey

Please join us from 5 to 6:30 p.m. June 20 as we honor Interim Dean Paula Casey as she retires from the law school.

Dean Casey has taught at the law school since 1979 and is the longest serving faculty member. She has taught Evidence, Trial Practice, and Criminal Procedure.

From 1990 until 1992, while on a leave of absence from the school, she was Chief Counsel and Legislative Director for U.S. Senator Dale Bumpers. In 1993, President Bill Clinton appointed her as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas.  She left that office in 2001 to return to the law school.

July 1, Dean Casey will become the Interim Vice Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate School for UALR.

A reception will be held in the second floor Student Lounge with the portrait unveiling at 5:45 p.m. All alumni, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend to let Dean Casey know how much we appreciate her service to Bowen and our state.

We’re happy to announce that Dean Casey and her husband Gil Glover are endowing a trial competition scholarship to mark this milestone in her career and to support students who represent Bowen in trial competitions.  As you know, Dean Casey has spent the majority of her career at Bowen teaching legal skills and serving as the trial team coach.

If you would like to honor Dean Casey in her retirement, please consider a contribution to the Paula J. Casey Endowed Trial Competition Scholarship. Please contact Wanda Hoover for additional information.

To RSVP for the reception email Amy Jackson or call 501.324.9967.
