Follow-up communication

Not too long ago, the thank you note was a personal, handwritten card or a very short letter following a business format similar to the cover letter. In today’s competitive climate, that format could still be the most impressive. However, a well-written email suffices in many cases.

Thank you for taking the time to meet with me yesterday (or state the date you interviewed).  I enjoyed talking with you and your associates (consider using names). Refer to something discussed in the meeting or anything you said that seemed important to your interviewer.

I am excited about this opportunity to join (use firm or agency name). Please do not hesitate to email or call me if you have any questions or need additional information.

I am very excited about your firm and look forward to hearing from you (next week, soon, etc.).
