Applied Archeology Certificate of Proficiency
The vast majority of archaeology in the United States is conducted outside of college and university settings. Archaeologists work for private Cultural Resource Management (CRM) firms as well as local, state, and federal agencies. Applied archaeologists help to safeguard our material heritage, working with a variety of stakeholders. The Applied Archaeology Certificate of Proficiency prepares you to enter this field with:
- Field, laboratory, and research training in archaeological methods
- Training in ethics, heritage law, and working with stakeholders
- Geospatial techniques
- Cultural knowledge
The certificate requires 18-20 hours of coursework, which includes an archaeological field school or equivalent, and is fully embedded in the Anthropology B.A. program.
