Your college education will be one of the most important investments you and your family will make. Financial aid can help you bridge the gap between your own resources and the cost of education. We emphasize bridging the gap because you and your family are primarily responsible for your college expenses.
Steps to Financial Aid
1. Apply for Admission and Get Admitted to UA Little Rock
Apply online at apply.ualr.edu and turn in your required documents. Make sure you meet the eligibility requirements for either undergraduate or graduate students.
2. Submit Your FAFSA
To receive federal, state, and many university-sponsored sources of funding, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA must be completed each year, and the new application for the upcoming school year is available on Oct. 1. The school code for UA Little Rock is 001101.
3. Complete the SAMS Application
Applying for financial aid through the Arkansas Division of Higher Education has never been easier. Applicants can now use the SAMS Financial Aid System to search and apply for assistance from the state of Arkansas without having to submit multiple applications. This includes the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship, funded by the scholarship lottery.
4. Explore All Types of Financial Aid
Funding for your college education is available from federal, state, university, and private resources. Different financial aid sources – local, private, and institutional – are awarded on the basis of other criteria, particularly academic achievement. UA Little Rock offers scholarships, grants, and work-study to eligible students. We encourage you to do your research and apply for all of the scholarships and grants that you’re eligible for – stacking aid is the best way to cover all of your college expenses. Of course, the sum of your financial aid awards can’t exceed the cost of attendance for a given year.
Pay attention to important financial aid deadlines. Feb. 1 is the priority deadline for financial aid.
