Celebrating 44 Years in 2023!
Summer Laureate University for Youth (SLUFY) is an educational summer program that provides unique learning experiences for high-ability students to explore and expand their talents and abilities. The program offers a variety of classes taught by a staff that includes graduate students seeking masters degrees in teaching the gifted and talented, certified master teachers, and other experts.
SLUFY presents high-ability K-6 students with a unique, enriched opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences under the guidance of enthusiastic teachers. Students also will get to meet other talented students, forging friendships that last long beyond the summer program.
Financial Need-based Scholarships
A limited number of Martha Gaunt Bass scholarships will be available for families who could not otherwise afford to have their student attend Summer Laureate. The link to the scholarship application was available online beginning March 1, 2023. Completed scholarship applications documenting financial need are due on or before April 17, by 4 p.m. Families will be notified by May 1, 2023 of the committee’s decision. Decisions are final.
Student Volunteers
Who is eligible to apply to be a Student Aide?
Student Aides must currently be in high school or college. The number of SLUFY students will determine the number of Aides needed. Aides must be available July 10-21, 2023, Monday through Friday from 11:45 am – 5:30 pm.
What will Aides be doing?
This summer there are a variety of assignments and activities for Students Aides to choose. Student Aides are expected to be role models for other students and be able to tolerate the heat. Each Aide will receive a letter documenting his or her volunteer hours.
Apply for a SLUFY Student Aide Volunteer position for the 2023 program.
