Chancellor Provides Update on Tech Park Site

On Wednesday, October 9, Chancellor Joel E. Anderson provided an update on the proposed land the university has offered for consideration to the Little Rock Technology Park Authority (LRTPA) for the future tech park. The site offered is adjacent to the university and its boundaries include:

  • 24th Street on the North
  • 27th Street on the South
  • Fair Park Boulevard on the East
  • Coleman Creek on the West

Of the proposed 21.9 acres, which includes 56 residential properties, UALR owns 27 of the properties. Of the 29 privately owned properties, 20 are rental properties and nine are owner occupied. The university has been deliberate in ensuring the protection and fair treatment of residents and property owners in the neighborhood. Chancellor Anderson noted that personal visits, letters, and phone calls to all of the residents in the proposed area were made by UALR staff and faculty.

In his remarks to the LRTPA Board, Chancellor Anderson stressed the importance of convenient access to resources at the university, including the expertise of faculty, staff, and students.

The Chancellor also stated the university “would sell its property only if Federal guidelines are embraced” and the university will also “volunteer to be the single point of contact and facilitator” for affected residents.
