Minimum wage increases January 1

On November 4, 2014 Arkansas voters approved three annual increases to the state’s minimum wage. The final installment of the minimum wage increase goes into effect January 1, 2017, increasing the current minimum wage of $8.00 to $8.50.

The university will put these new rates in place effective January 1. Current employees already on payroll that fall under the new hourly rate will be systematically increased and all departments should note these changes for future pay documents and budget planning. In addition, departments will need to be sure to enter the new minimum wage when submitting EPAFs for new employees with a start date after January 1.
