We would like to graciously thank all of our donors who have helped us directly support our students by establishing the following scholarships.


Virginia Mitchell Bailey Visual Arts Scholarship

The purpose of the Virginia Mitchell Bailey Visual Arts Scholarship shall be to honor the memory of Virginia M. Bailey, a longtime supporter of the arts and founding president of the UA Little Rock Friends of the Arts. The scholarship shall provide assistance for any education related expenses, including but not limited to tuition, books, fees, and room and board, for students pursuing a graduate degree with a concentration in studio art in the Department of Art.

Judith Anne Wrappe Scholarship

The purpose of the Judith Anne Wrappe Scholarship shall be to honor the memory of Judith Anne Wrappe, a promising young artist and former UA Little Rock student. The funds shall be for tuition and fees for students pursuing a degree in the Department of Art.

Joan R. Taylor Scholarship

The Joan R. Taylor Scholarship provides substantial financial assistance to students enrolled in programs in the Department of Art and is awarded to a number of students annually. The fund is to provide assistance for any education related expenses, including but not limited to tuition, books, fees, room and board, and to provide funds to support associated program costs.

Lewis and Debbie May Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of the Lewis and Debbie May Endowed Scholarship shall be to benefit students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts program in the Department of Art. The fund is to provide assistance for any education related expenses, including but not limited to tuition, books, fees, room and board, and to provide funds to support costs associated with programs in the Department of Art.

Cindy Conger Endowed Award

The purpose of the Cindy Conger Endowed Visual Art Award shall be to provide assistance for art supplies for students pursuing a degree in visual art in the Department of Art. Cindy Conger is a longtime supporter of the department and has served on the board of the Friends of the Arts for more than a decade.

Lori Grimes Memorial Scholarship

A permanently endowed scholarship whose income provides scholarships to outstanding students majoring in the Department of Art. The scholarship is in memory of Lori Grimes, a UA Little Rock art student whose life ended by tragedy in her junior year.

Friends of the Arts Scholarship

The Friends of the Arts Scholarship is provided by the Department of Art’s community support group the Friends of the Arts. This group provides assistance in fundraising and community outreach. The Friends of the Arts also provides a $500 cash award to be awarded during the annual juried student competitive held each Spring semester.

Windgate Foundation Scholarship

The Windgate Foundation Scholarship provides assistance to students seeking a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the Department of Art through funding for any education related expenses, including but not limited to tuition, books, fees and room and board, for students pursuing a degree in the Department of Art.

This endowed fund provides scholarships for up to eight different students annually. Student applicants are evaluated on the strength of their portfolio and potential for success. This scholarship is renewable pending successful evaluation of progress.

Charles D. Massey Scholarship

The purpose of the Charles D. Massey Scholarship shall to be to honor the memory of Charles D. Massey and to provide assistance for any education related expenses, including but not limited to tuition, books, fees, and room and board for a student pursuing a degree in the Department of Art with an emphasis in graphic design and/or illustration.

Floyd W. Martin Graduation Incentive Scholarship

The purpose of the Floyd W. Martin Graduation Incentive Scholarship shall be to recognize the distinguished career of Floyd W. Martin who has taught at UA Little Rock since 1982 as Professor of Art History, and to provide assistance to a student or students seeking a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the Department of Art through funding for any education related expenses, including but not limited to tuition, books, fees and room and board, for students pursuing or furthering a degree or continuing their education in the Department of Art.

Jane Hetherington Brown Art History and Art Education Scholarship

The purpose of the Jane Hetherington Brown Art History and Art Education Scholarship shall be to be to recognize the distinguished career of Jane Hetherington Brown who has taught at UA Little Rock since 1990 as Professor of Art History, and to provide assistance to a student or students seeking a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Art History or the Art Education track through funding for any education related expenses, including but not limited to tuition, books, fees and room and board, for students pursuing or furthering a degree or continuing their education in the Department of Art.

Jerry Arrowood Memorial Scholarship

Jerry Arrowood was a UA Little Rock student from 1994 – 1996, before that attending UAPB and City Colleges of Chicago and Europe. He was an art history major and particularly enjoyed the paintings of Picasso and German artists. He and his wife visited many art museums during their travels. Mr. Arrowood took several art history classes at UA Little Rock before his death. Recipients shall be full or part-time students majoring in art history.

Wilma & Jack Diner Art Acquisition and Award Endowment

The purpose of the Wilma and Jack Diner Art Acquisition and Award Endowment shall be to fund student awards, scholarships and the purchase of student art for the university permanent art collection in the Department of Art.
