Accuplacer

Update: Currently, Testing Services is available to proctor the accuplacer both in person at our Testing Center AND remotely through Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. To test remotely, you will need a PC with internet access and a camera and microphone. Please review the checklist below before signing up for an ACCUPLACER AT HOME exam.

Online Accuplacer Checklist

  1. Do you have a computer with a camera AND microphone (built-in cameras and microphones work as well as external devices)?
  2. Do you have internet access?
  3. Will you have up to 2 hours of uninterrupted time for the exam?
  4. Do you understand you will need to show a government issued ID?
  5. Do you have access to BLANK scratch paper and a writing utensil?

If you can answer yes to all of these questions, then please sign up at ualr.at/exam to schedule your Accuplacer exam.

***Please note the registration and payment receipt will read as though you are taking the exam on campus. For remote testing, you will receive a Blackboard Collaborate link sent to you by a Testing Services proctor 10 – 15 minutes prior to your scheduled exam. That link will allow you to log in to your specific testing session and is unique to you.***

What is it?

  • Accuplacer is an untimed, computerized test used for admission purposes and to evaluate your skills for course placement in reading, writing, and math. Formatting of the test is available on the College-Board Accuplacer website entitled: “Inside the Test“.
  • To determine your course placement, refer to the Fall 2018 Test Score Placement Guide on our home page.
  • NOTE: Accuplacer scores are valid for FIVE (5) years. If your scores are older, you will have to retake the exam.
  • You may schedule an appointment online: ualr.at/exam. You will be able to select the day and time of your appointment and submit your payment using a VISA, MasterCard, or Discover credit card or a debit card.

NOTICE: As of Summer 2019, students will only be able to take the Accuplacer Next-Generation Writing Test once. The Writeplacer, an essay version of the test, can be taken to improve scores if the Next-Generation Writing scores are unsatisfactory.
