Things to Consider when Creating a Duplicate Exam

For special circumstances, such as a makeup exam or to make accommodations for students with disabilities, you may be required to create a duplicate exam.  To help you complete this, we’ve developed a Quick Start Guide.

Before you get started, here are some things to keep in mind:

  • When renaming the exam, it is best NOT to add any student information to the title.  Instead, identify it as a duplicate by using a number or letter (e.g. Exam 1a).
  • To keep students from getting confused, it is a good idea to create two groups and then use adaptive release to make the right exam visible to the right group of students.
  • Once the exam is copied and deployed, a new grade column will automatically be created and displayed to all students.  We recommend disabling the grade column by excluding it from grade center calculations and hiding it from students. (See the Quick Start Guide for directions)
