Position Summary: Internal to Campus

The College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences seeks a dean who will help the College’s units build on their achievements and take the next steps forward. The dean will provide leadership in all aspects of its operation and support and maintain the College’s mission. Reporting to the Provost, the dean will work collaboratively with the faculty, other deans, the Provost, and the Chancellor to develop and implement the College’s and University’s strategic plans and other institutional goals.
The successful dean candidate will be expected to build on the unique advantages of the University’s location in Little Rock; raise the state, regional, and national profile of the College and its programs; represent the College before the University, alumni, and other outside entities; lead major fund-raising efforts, focusing on developing significant sources of private funds and building on existing endowments; value and manage interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary endeavors; enhance the sense of community among faculty, students, administrators, and staff; support the University’s commitment to diversity; support the College’s core values of professionalism, public service, and research; and advance the University’s commitment to excellence in teaching, both in person and online.
The College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences includes eleven academic departments offering degrees at the baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral levels, including the PhD in Applied Sciences, Master’s Degrees in Public History, Second Languages, the Arts, Applied Math, Applied Statistics, and the Sciences, as well as Bachelor’s Degrees in Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Mathematics & Statistics, Music, Philosophy, Interdisciplinary Studies, Physics & Astronomy, Theatre & Dance, and World Languages.
Required Education and/or Experience:
Candidates must have a terminal degree from an accredited institution.
• Proven track record of increasing student enrollment, research funding, faculty scholarship, and procuring external funding support.
• Full Professor with tenure at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
• At least 5 years of demonstrated
