UALR Pianist Schedules Recital in February
Selections by European and North and South American composers will highlight solo piano recital by Dr. Linda Holzer, UALR professor of music, at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. Admission is free,
The program will include Danzas Argentinas by Alberto Ginastera, Debussy’s famous Clair de Lune and the rest of his Suite Bergamasque, poetic masterpieces by Chopin and Beethoven, and three selections by award-winning composers from the United States – April by Vermont composer Gwyneth Walker, Lament, from the Carnegie Hall Millennium Piano Book by Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize in Music, and an etude by University of Michigan-based composer William Bolcom from his Pulitzer-prize-winning collection.
Holzer, who has performed over 20 states as well as abroad at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, travels in May to perform in Vienna, Austria and Bratislava, Slovakia.
