Artspree Hosts Brentano String Quartet Jan. 25

The Brentano String Quartet — named for Antonie Brentano, thought to be Beethoven’s mysterious Immortal Beloved – rings in Artspree’s New Year with a concert Jan. 25, featuring violinists Serena Canin and Mark Steinberg, Misha Amory playing viola, and Nina Lee playing cello.

Tickets are $20 on the main floor and $17 in the balcony. UALR students are admitted free with a valid UALR ID. All other students are admitted for $10.

For more information or to purchase tickets, call (501) 529-3288 or visit ualr.edu/artspree.

The quartet maintains a strong interest in contemporary music and has commissioned and premiered works by Milton Babbitt, Chou Wen-Chung, Charles Wuorinen, Bruce Adolphe, Steven Mackey, and Jonathan Dawe. In addition – to celebrate its 10th anniversary – the quartet commissioned 10 composers to write brief companion pieces to Bach’s Art of Fugue.
