High School Grads of UALR’s BioNanoTox Research Camp Win at Science Fair
Three Little Rock Central High School students who participated in UALR’s BoNanoTox Research Camp operated by the Department of Biology, won top awards at Little Rock Central’s Science Fair competition this semester.
Laurel Holt, mentored by Dr. Carl Stapleton, won first place in Medicine and Health. Sai Desikan, mentored by Dr. Olga Tarasenko, took first place in Microbiology, and Myriah Downs, also mentored by Stapleton, placed second in Mathematics at the fair.
All three students will go on to regional competitions as well as the Bill and Melinda Gates, Siemens, and Intel competitions. UALR’s BioNanoTox programs offer research opportunities for selected research-oriented middle- and high school students in disciplines related to biology, nanotechnology, toxicology, and their applications in science, medicine, and law.
