Women’s Sports Undefeated at the Jack Stephens Center for 2007-08

UALR is the only Division I institution in the nation that logged an undefeated season in its home stadium through the two sports seasons.

Ten volleyball teams and 14 women’s basketball teams came into the Jack Stephens Center and went home with a loss as the Trojans went undefeated at home. The teams look toward next season as the volleyball team carries an 11-match winning streak and the women’s basketball team carries a 20-game winning streak into 2008-09.

Combined, the two teams have tallied 31 straight victories at the Jack Stephens Center for 2007-08. In the three years of the Jack Stephens Center being the home of volleyball and basketball, the teams have combined for a 54-17 record (.761). The volleyball team has recorded a 16-11 (.593) overall record going 2-1 (.667) against non-conference opponents and 14-10 (.588) against conference opponents. The women’s basketball team has recorded a 38-6 (.864) overall record going 17-1 (.944) against non-conference opponents and 21-5 (.808) against conference opponents.

During the 2007-08 season, UALR volleyball was one of 16 Division I teams to go undefeated at home. Other volleyball teams going undefeated at home were Florida Gulf Coast, St. John’s, Penn State, Nebraska, Texas, Cal Poly, Tulane, Princeton, Florida A&M, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Colorado State, Southern California, North Dakota State, and South Dakota State.

During the 2007-08 season, UALR women’s basketball was one of 11 teams to go undefeated at home. Other teams going undefeated at home were Hartford, North Carolina, Maryland, Connecticut, Montana, Liberty, Old Dominion, UTEP, Stanford, and Boise State.

UALR was the only Sun Belt Conference institution to have both volleyball and women’s basketball finish the season undefeated at home. Both the volleyball and women’s basketball teams hold the longest active home winning streak in the Sun Belt.
