Birch Tree Salutes Nursing Professor

A corporation operating 10 Arkansas facilities helping patients recover from mental illness has presented UALR Nursing Professor Joyce Grant Scott with a 2008 Community Service Award for dedication and compassion.

Scott was cited for her work in bringing her students to the facility for their practical instruction.

“Over the last three years, she has coordinated dozens of nursing students to assist with Birch-wide events that require labor intensive efforts along with personal interactions with our members,” the award said. “It is clear to see the passion for her students, her dedication to success, and the commitment to those we serve.”

Scott, who holds an RN and master’s degree in nursing, teaches Introduction to Nursing and Mental Health Nursing.
