Bowen School Honors Alum Vic Snyder Thursday
UALR’s William H. Bowen School of Law will honor alumnus Rep. Vic Snyder as an outstanding graduate during its inaugural Alumni Scholarship Luncheon, planned for 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Peabody Ballroom. Keynote speaker for the event will be Sen. Mark Pryor.
At the luncheon, the Bowen school will recognize student Idonia Trotter, the first student to complete the concurrent JD/Master of Public Service degree with the Clinton School. As part of her degree program, she traveled to Belize to work with local officials to advocate for the victims of sexual abuse. Honorable mentions for the award include Carla Johnson, Antwan Philips, Megan Gammill and Mike Lauro.
In addition, the school will honor Professor Lynn Foster, who is the school’s 2009 recipient for Faculty Excellence in Public Service. Foster has a long history of important contributions to Arkansas’ academic and legal communities.
Snyder has served in the United States House of Representatives since 1997 after being a state Senator for six years. Congressman Snyder received his M.D. from UAMS and, while practicing medicine, received his J.D. from UALR in 1988. He chairs the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations and is a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee and the House Armed Services Committee.
