June 1 is the deadline for students to apply for the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship and the Opportunities Grant. Information about state financial aid and how to apply is available at the Arkansas Department of Higher Education’s website.

June 1 is also the deadline for the State Teacher Assistance Resource (STAR) program that offers forgivable loans or loan repayment grants to current or future educators teaching in a subject or in a geographic shortage area in an Arkansas public school. An application is available online.

The June 1 deadline also applies for the Minority Teacher Scholars Program (MTSP) providing forgivable loans to African-American, Asian American, Native American, and Hispanic students attending Arkansas higher education institutions with approved teacher education programs.

Application deadline for summer financial aid at UALR is also June 1. Students seeking financial aid for the fall should apply by July 1.
