Gallery to Exhibit Faculty Works Aug. 17-Sept. 27
UALR will host its Art Faculty Biennial Exhibition beginning Monday, Aug. 17, through Sunday, Sept. 27, in Gallery I in the University’s Fine Arts Building.
A simultaneous exhibition of faculty artwork, Small Works, will be held in the Atrium Gallery at the Arkansas Studies Institute Galleries at 401 President Clinton Avenue in downtown Little Rock. Both exhibitions are free and open to the public.
The exhibitions feature work by the full- and part-time faculty teaching studio art classes in the UALR Art Department. Twenty-two artists are featured in the exhibitions: Laurel Bakken, Winferd Bruhl, Kevin Cates, Gary Cawood, David Clemons, Tom Clifton, Brad Cushman, Stephen Driver, Jennifer Fowler, Maria Hall, Louise M. Halsey, Eric Mantle, Delita Martin, Holly Moore, Heidi Mullins, Elizabeth Noble, Cathy Nugent, Carey Roberson, Dominique Simons, Aj Smith, Michael Warrick, and Marjorie Williams-Smith.
“A variety of mediums is presented, including drawing, photography, metals, painting, ceramics, furniture design, fibers, printmaking, sculpture, graphic design, illustration, and combined media,” said Gallery Director Brad Cushman.
UALR Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday in August and closed on the weekends. Beginning in September, hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Galleries are closed Saturdays and University holidays.
Gallery hours for the Arkansas Studies Institute are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
A reception will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, in the gallery. A reception for the Small Works exhibit will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Arkansas Studies Institute as part of Little Rock’s Second Friday Art Night event.
