Free Clinic Offers Help to ‘Kick the Nic”

A tobacco treatment specialist from the Mayo Clinic — who is an ex-smoker who quit with the help of a treatment option and support — will be on hand Thursday, Nov. 5, for an hour-long workshop sponsored by QualChoice’s Wellness Counts program.

Three sessions are offered: 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Ledbetter Hall C in the Donaghey Student Center, 12 to 1:30 p.m. in Room 119 in Ross Hall, and 2 to 3:30 p.m. back in Ledbetter C in the DSC. The hour-long program includes 30 minutes for questions and answers. A QualChoice health coach will also be available to answer questions about their “Kick the Nic” program.

The program offers straightforward information about:

• Why it is so hard to quit

• How this time can be different

• Types of treatment and support available

• How to create a quit plan

• Strategies for overcoming urges and slip-ups

To sign up for the event,  go to freequitclinic.com or call 1-888-866-0843. Space is limited. Light refreshments will be served.
