Former Trojan Named to the State Supreme Court
Ron Sheffield, a former UALR baseball player and graduate of UALR and the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law, was appointed associate justice of the state Supreme Court last week. Gov. Mike Beebe named Sheffield to the court to serve the unexpired term of retired Justice Annabelle Clinton Imber.
Sheffield, a member of the UALR Trojan Lettermen’s Association Board of Directors, worked for 30 years in state government at the Insurance Department and the secretary of state’s office.
Sheffield played baseball for the Trojans while earning his degree in political science. He graduated in 1972.
While working at the Insurance Department, Sheffield took night classes for the UALR School of Law and graduated in 1989 with his degree.
Sheffield also worked under then-Secretary of State Sharon Priest redrawing legislative districts before running for lieutenant governor in 2002.
