Scholarship Honors DEA Agent

Members of the Drug Enforcement Agency Survivor Benefit Fund has presented UALR with a gift of $5,000 for the Rick Finley Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of the undercover officer who earned a master’s degree from UALR’s Department of Criminal Justice.

The survivor fund established the fund and has made gifts in previous years.

Finley was working for the DEA in the jungles of Central America when his airplane crashed killing all on board in the late 1980s. The Finley Memorial Scholarship is awarded by UALR to a full- or part-time graduate or undergraduate student at UALR pursuing a degree in law enforcement or in a related field.

Applicants must demonstrate financial need, good academic standing, and be a child of a current or retired police officer or a child of a police officer slain in the line of duty.
