Bowen Student Chosen for National Position
Marie Nguyen, secretary of the Bowen Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA), was selected by the sitting National Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (NAPALSA) board as its 2010 secretary.
Nguyen is a rising third-year student from Atlanta. Traditionally, officers for NAPALSA are elected during the annual conference every year in November, but the board faced a unique circumstance this year when the elected secretary resigned. NAPALSA sought applications from affiliate members who were interested in filling the position for the remainder of the term. After board members carefully reviewed applications, Nguyen was selected to carry out the rest of the 2010 term as secretary on the NAPALSA board.
As secretary, Nguyen will be responsible primarily for media outreach and communications through accurate documentation of NAPALSA’s history, activities, and meetings.
Nguyen will serve on the NAPALSA board with Smrithi Mohan, also a rising third-year Bowen student, who was elected as the 2009-2010 conference chair at the 2009 annual conference in Boston. Both Mohan and Nguyen will be required to attend this year’s annual conference.
