Learn About Ramadan at Thursday Meal

Dr. Mohammed Moursi, a vascular surgeon at UAMS, will give a brief explanation of Ramadan, following an iftar, a traditional dinner that ends the day of fasting during Ramadan at UALR’s Think Fast: Interfaith Iftar and Food Drive beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, in Ledbetter Hall in the Donaghey Student Center.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until dusk and engage in charitable acts. Dr. Clea Bunch, chair of UALR’s Middle Eastern Studies program, said the discussion and dinner are free and open to the public.

“We invite members of the community to participate in these traditions by fasting for all or part of the day, if they choose, and and donating non-perishable foods to our food drive,” Bunch said.
