Bowen Alum Joins Federal Bench
At just 40 years old, UALR Bowen Law alumnus Jeffery LaVicka is one of the youngest members of the federal bench. He was sworn in last week.
LaVicka worked as both a federal prosecutor and a federal civil attorney before applying for the judgeship. He underwent a year-long process that began with a 40-page application and included hearings in front of a panel in Washington before finally receiving the appointment.
LaVicka spent six years in the Navy before attending the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he was named an Outstanding Young Alumnus this year. Among his volunteer work was his service as a member of the UALR Bowen Law School Alumni Board of Directors.
