Girls Scouts Honor Byrne
Dr. Jamie Byrne, associate professor and director of the School of Mass Communication, has received the Appreciation Award from the Girl Scouts of America for her work on the organization’s Council Realignment Committee. The panel worked for more than a year to combine the five legacy councils — all their own corporations — into a single unit.
Byrne serves on the new blended council — the Diamond Council — that includes five legacy councils of Arkansas and areas of Texas and Oklahoma. Last week, the new council brought girls and adult volunteers together for a day of training and meetings. UALR alumna Spirit Trickey was the featured speaker at the luncheon and awards ceremony.
