10 Hours Sought to Change a Child’s Life
Julie Hall, director of the University District Educational Network, is helping organize community conversations about learning opportunities children and youth have outside of school time in central Little Rock.
“These conversations are being organized by a group of community volunteers, coordinated through UALR’s University District Educational Network,” she said. “The goals are to build stronger relationships as we listen to each other’s views and then join together as a community to take action to improve opportunities for children and youth when they are not in school.”
The conversations will be conducted using study circles – small groups of diverse people that meet four times to participate in a facilitated discussion. The process ends in a community-wide action forum.
All Study Circle groups are scheduled to start next week. Participants are asked to sign up by Thursday, Nov. 4, at the latest by contacting Hall in University Advancement at 501-569-3187. Each Study Circle will meet for eight hours at set times between Nov. 8 and Nov. 20.
To sign up, download and complete this form and fax it to Hall in University Advancement at 501-569-3009 or contact Hall at 501-569-3187.
“Feel free to pass on this information to others at UALR or in the community who might be interested in participating,” Hall said.
