Law School to Host Moot Court Competition
The UALR William H. Bowen School of Law will play host to the second annual South Central Regional Moot Court Championships Nov. 11-13. The South Central Region is a part of the American Collegiate Moot Court Association (ACMA).
The competition will involve 32 two-person teams who will compete in a single-elimination tournament featuring simulated legal arguments before “appellate courts.” Teams will come from Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, and Tennessee.
“We are pleased to have the South Central Regional Moot Court Championships at Bowen again this year,” said Dean John DiPippa. “These students represent the best of our area, and we hope to see many of them again when it comes time to apply to law school.”
Last year’s tournament was also held at Bowen. A team from Arkansas State University took home the top prize.
Moot court competition has long been an educational opportunity limited to the law school environment. The ultimate goal of the ACMA is to build a system of top-quality undergraduate moot court competitions in America.
