Health Fair Offers Recommitment to Resolutions
UALR’s Donaghey Student Center, Health Services, and Counseling and Career Planning will sponsor a Wellness Resolution Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 26 and 27, in the DSC Fitness Center to help students, faculty, and staff make good on New Year’s resolutions to get healthy.
The event will include information about UALR’s health and wellness programs. Those interested in losing weight will have the option of joining one or both of the weight loss programs: “The Biggest Loser Boot Camp” and “Weight & Wellness.”
For $25, participants who have more than 24 pounds to lose to reach their ideal weight can join the “The Biggest Loser Boot Camp,” a competition designed to help individuals lose weight through exercise, improved nutritional habits, and positive lifestyle changes. The program is administered by the Fit/Well Program within the DSC.
Participants will engage in brief health assessments to identify key areas of health risks and will work with professionals to select wellness resolutions for the coming year.
Boot Camp recruits sign up for at least two boot camp classes and at least one approved cardiovascular fitness class per week. They must complete exercise challenges and participate in weigh-ins once every two weeks. Campers can compete to win prizes for the most body weight and largest percent body fat lost, as well as prizes for exercise challenges.
Fitness classes are offered daily, and the Fit/Well staff members are available to help with any questions. For questions or further information, contact Naomi Fletcher, coordinator of Campus Recreation, at 501-569-3228.
Administered by Health Services, “Weight & Wellness” is a fun and effective approach to weight loss focusing on creating a balanced lifestyle and maintaining a healthy weight for life with no weight limits.
Weekly group meetings will provide social support, positive reinforcement, and educational materials to help individuals succeed with their personal weight loss goals. No health assessment is necessary, but participants must register during the fair.
