Law Student Wins Nestle Baking Contest
Lauren Ferris recently won the national Nestle Toll House “Bake Some Love” Contest with the support of Bowen School of Law faculty, staff, and students.
Entrants had to create a heart-shaped cookie using a Nestle Toll House recipe.
Ferris baked a large, heart-shaped guitar where every piece was a heart. She was selected by Nestle judges as a top 10 finalist based on defined criteria – creativity/originality, appeal, and ability to re-create.
Ferris then engaged in a Facebook campaign for the win. She earned first place and a $2,500 prize.
“Other finalists included highly trained and experienced bakers, such as owner of a cookie shop and a wedding and birthday cake baker,” Ferris said. “It made it that much more awesome to win this contest, especially knowing who I was up against. Technically, I can now say I am the best or one of the best bakers in the nation as declared by Nestle!”
