Wigand, Researchers Present on Authentication of Drugs in Supply Chains
Dr. Rolf Wigand, Maulden-Entergy Chair and Distinguished Professor of Information Science and Management, along with two UALR graduate students presented their paper, “Information Management and Authentication of Drugs in Supply Chains within the Pharmaceutical Industry,” at the 8th International Conference on Information Technology: New Generations (ITNG) Tuesday, April 12, in Las Vegas.
The paper appears in the ITMG Conference Proceedings. The students working with Wigand were Dianah Mande, Wigand’s graduate research assistant, and Jerry Wood, a Ph. D. student in the Integrated Computing Ph.D. program. A National Science Foundation grant supported their research.
The paper examined identity management and authentication of drugs in supply chains within the pharmaceutical industry.
“The focal concern in this setting is counterfeit drugs, a dilemma of paramount importance for public health and the well-being and safety of patients,” Wigand said.
