Update: Shooting at UALR
UALR Director of Public Safety Brad King issued the following statement Friday, May 6, regarding a shooting outside East Residence Hall earlier in the morning:
At 2:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, the University Police received a call that a person had been shot in front of East Hall. When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a male that had been shot in the hip. The injuries were reported to be non life-threatening.
MEMS responded to the scene and took the victim to UAMS. The victim told responding officers he had been shot by a person that he had been in an altercation with earlier that evening at a local nightclub. The victim was not a current UALR student.
Video cameras in front of East Hall recorded images of the suspect. Further investigation by UALR detectives resulted in the suspect being identified. The suspect is not a student and has no apparent connection to the university. The investigation is ongoing.
